Forthcoming Meetings 2024

At the beginning of last summer, we agreed to change our meeting day to the second Monday of the month to avoid clashes with other events in the village. Meetings will normally be held in the Village Hall and commence at 7:30pm. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be available afterwards.

Membership is included as part of the meeting attendance fee which costs £5 per meeting.

The 8th April meeting will be the last in our schedule before our summer break.

Future Meetings

8th April – Jonathan Turner – William White of Dartmouth. We are lucky to have Jonathan Turner whose research interests are particularly focussed on maritime explorers who have sailed from our port. This talk will tell the story of the little known explorer and privateer William White, who sailed to the Amazon in 1618. He had strong connections with the Roope family of Kingswear who were active in public life here in the mid-19th century. Many of you will know that Sarah Roope gave a generous bequest tof the alms houses o Kingswear. Jonathan promises to tell the story of the Roope chair and solve the mystery that surrounds it for the first time in public! For full details see HERE.

If you know of anybody who would like to be on the mailing list, please let me have their emails.
