Froward Point NCI

FUNDRAISING

FROWARD POINT NCI provides “Eyes Along The Coast” 365 days a year to help ensure the safety of seafarers and walkers. Over 60 trained and qualified volunteer watchkeepers provide this service free of charge (even buying their own uniforms). However, it costs £10,000 each year to run this service and this money has to be raised by the watchkeepers. The annual raffle is a major source of the income required. The poster below gives details of the raffle and the major prizes. Tickets cost 50p each and you can buy a book of 10 tickets for £5.

The local (Kingswear) co-ordinator is Brian Longman who can be contacted directly or through longman376@gmail.com. Please consider contributing to this worthwhile cause and help us to continue to provide this service.

EVENTS

This year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the forming of the NCI. The first NCI site was opened at Bass Point on the Lizard Peninsular following the tragic loss of a fishing vessel from Cadgwith, with its 2 crew, within site of the former Coast Guard station.

An NCI flag will tour the country visiting every NCI station and Froward Point NCI Station will receive it from Prawle Point NCI on the 9th of July and we will move it to Torbay NCI using the steam train from Kingswear to Paignton.

Froward Point NCI will celebrate its own 20th anniversary with an Open Day. While we welcome visitors at any time (unless there is an ongoing incident) we would be particularly pleased to see you on this special occasion. The date will be announced, but may be in conjunction with WW2 anniversary celebrations.
