Greenvile Collins – Cartographer – 12th Oct 2026

“The Most Important Naval Officer You Have Never Heard Of”

On Monday 12th October Alan Harper will be telling us the exceptional story of Greenvile Collins and his navigation around Britain and up the Dart.

Alan Harper is a yachting journalist and author of “Master and Cartographer – A Life of Captain Greenvile Collins, the Man who Charted Britain and Helped Change the Course of History”.

Greenvile Collins was an officer of the Royal Navy and prominent hydrographer, who, in the 17th Century, compiled Great Britain’s Coasting Pilot on behalf of Trinity House, the first survey of the country’s coast undertaken by a Briton.
